This oh-so-savory summer cocktail's adapted from a recipe by San Francisco bartender Carlos Yturria. The original features tiny Sungold tomatoes, an orange variety the size of a marble. Our variation adds the herbal liqueur Chartreuse and a couple of jalapeƱo rings to make the Zinger even more zingy.


1/2 of a medium Green Zebra tomato, or other heirloom tomato that’s green when ripe
2 rings Lindsay® Hot Sliced Jalapeno Peppers
Pinch of sea salt or kosher salt
1-1/2 oz dry gin
1/2 oz green Chartreuse
1/2 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
celery bitters
fresh herb sprig, for garnish


Muddle the tomato, pepper rings, and salt together in a mixing glass. Add the gin, Chartreuse, and lemon juice, and shake well with ice. Strain through a fine strainer into a chilled cocktail glass, add 2 dashes of celery bitters, and garnish with an herb sprig.
